What Does This HEIC to JPG Converter Do?
This tool converts HEIC and HEIF photos - the default format used by iPhones since iOS 11 - into JPG files that open everywhere. Conversion happens directly in your browser using a WebAssembly HEIF decoder, so your photos never need to reach a server to be readable outside Apple's ecosystem.

Why Convert HEIC to JPG?
HEIC compresses better than JPG at equivalent quality, which is why Apple made it the default camera format. How the Quality Slider Works
The quality setting (1-100) controls the lossy compression level applied when re-encoding as JPG:

- 96-100 - Near-lossless, useful for photos you plan to print or edit further.

EXIF Metadata and Date Preservation
HEIC files store metadata such as the camera make and model, the date the photo was taken, and GPS coordinates in a different container structure than JPG. When Preserve EXIF metadata is enabled, this tool reads that data from each HEIC file and writes it back into the converted JPG's EXIF block, so photo apps and file browsers still show the correct capture date and location.
Browsers cannot set a downloaded file's modified date directly, so Preserve original date applies to ZIP downloads only: each photo's original file date is written into the ZIP entry, and most unzip tools will restore it as the file's modified date once extracted. Individually downloaded files get the date your browser assigns at download time.
Automatic Orientation
iPhones record orientation as metadata rather than rotating the pixels themselves. This tool applies that orientation while decoding, so photos taken in portrait or upside-down never come out sideways in the converted JPG.

Does this work with HEIF files, not just HEIC?
Yes. HEIF is the general image container format and HEIC is Apple's specific flavor of it - both are accepted and convert the same way.
Will I lose the date my photo was taken?
Not if you keep Preserve EXIF metadata enabled - the capture date is written into the converted JPG's EXIF data, which most photo viewers read directly. For the file's own modified date, use a ZIP download with Preserve original date enabled.
Can I convert multiple HEIC photos at once?

Will converting to JPG reduce photo quality?
