What this calculator reports
Enter one numerical data set to get its count, sum, arithmetic mean, median, mode or modes, minimum, maximum, and range. The calculator sorts a copy of the values for the median and counts repeated values for the mode.
- Count: the number of numeric values in the data set.
- Sum: the total of all values.
- Mean: the sum divided by the count.
- Median: the middle value after sorting.
- Mode: every value tied for the highest frequency when that frequency is greater than one.
- Minimum and maximum: the smallest and largest values.
- Range: maximum minus minimum.
How to use it
- Enter values in Numbers, separated by commas, spaces, semicolons, or line breaks.
- Click Calculate to show the results and calculation details.
- Click Load sample to insert the built-in sample and calculate it.
- Use Copy result to copy the generated text when clipboard access is available. If copying fails, select and copy the text manually.
- Use Download result (.txt) to download the generated text file.
- Click Reset to clear the input, errors, and results.
How each statistic is calculated
Count is the number of numeric values in successfully parsed input. Invalid or non-finite tokens reject the calculation instead of being skipped. Sum adds every value, and the arithmetic Mean is sum / count.
After sorting the values, Median is the middle value for an odd count or the average of the two middle values for an even count. Mode includes all values with the highest frequency when that frequency is greater than one. Range is maximum - minimum.
Input rules, errors, and limitations
Use finite numbers, a period for decimals, and a minus sign for negative values. Commas are treated as separators. Empty input, invalid tokens, and non-finite values show an error and hide the results.
The tool does not infer whether values describe a sample or population, perform hypothesis tests, calculate variance or standard deviation, remove outliers, or provide professional statistical advice.
Privacy
The calculation runs locally in your browser, and the calculator script does not submit the values you enter.
Frequently Asked Questions
What statistics does this calculator find?
It finds the number of values, sum, arithmetic mean, median, mode or modes, minimum, maximum, and range of the values you enter.
How should I enter my data?
Enter finite numbers separated by commas, spaces, semicolons, or line breaks. Use a period as the decimal separator and include a minus sign for negative values.
What is the difference between mean and median?
The mean is the sum of all values divided by their count. The median is the middle value after sorting the data, or the average of the two middle values when the count is even.
What does no mode mean?
If every value occurs only once, there is no mode. If multiple values tie for the highest frequency, the calculator reports all of those modes.
Are my data sent to a server?
The calculator performs the calculation in your browser. Its calculator script does not submit the values you enter.
