Choose the Data Tools category that matches your task
Data Tools covers the stages between receiving structured data and using it with confidence. Choose a category by the result you need: inspect a dataset with Analyze Tools, correct its values or structure with Clean Tools, or check two inputs for differences with Compare Tools.
For a different output representation, use Convert Tools. Extract Tools pulls structured information from supported text and document inputs, while Generate Tools creates seeded synthetic test data. Merge Tools combines datasets or structured documents, and Transform Tools changes the shape, columns, or selected values. Use Validate Tools when the main question is whether input matches a syntax rule, identifier rule, or schema.
Use a practical data preparation workflow
A useful sequence is to inspect first, make controlled changes, then review the result. Start with the Dataset Profiler when you need a view of structure and statistics. If values or file structure need cleanup, choose the Data Cleaner or a more focused cleaner from that category.
When the data is valid but its shape needs to change, the Pivot Table Generator can create a different table view; other Transform Tools handle operations such as renaming, replacing, flattening, transposing, or unpivoting. After a preparation step, use CSV Diff or another matching comparison tool to review additions, removals, and changes. Then use the CSV JSON Converter when the next system needs a different representation, and finish with a matching validator such as the JSON Schema Validator when a schema check is relevant.
This is a sequence for choosing tools, not an automated pipeline. Each tool has its own inputs, controls, matching rules, and output behavior, so review the selected page before relying on a conversion or transformation to preserve every property of the source.
Check the input, output, and review needs before choosing
Use the distinction below to avoid opening a neighboring category with a different purpose:
- Choose CSV & TSV Validator and Formatter when the question is whether delimited input is syntactically valid or needs the formatter’s supported checks.
- Choose Remove Duplicate Rows from CSV, Excel, JSON & Tables when repeated rows are the specific cleanup problem.
- Choose Dataset Merger & Joiner when separate datasets must be combined under explicit join or precedence rules.
- Choose Spreadsheet Diff when the goal is to identify differences between spreadsheet inputs rather than reshape one of them.
Review the controls on the individual tool page before choosing. Supported inputs, matching rules, formatting options, and export formats differ across the nine categories. Validation can answer the checks that a selected validator performs; it does not by itself prove that the data is correct for every business use.
