File Compressor Tools

Use the six tools rendered below to compress audio, GIF, PDF, and supported document files, or to create ZIP, TAR, and TAR.GZ archives. Each child tool has its own controls and workflow.

Choose a tool by file type or output

This category covers six focused tools. Use a compressor for a specific audio, GIF, PDF, or document file; choose an archive tool when your goal is to package files as ZIP, TAR, or TAR.GZ.

Match the task to the right compression tool

Start with the input type when you want to reduce a particular file. PDF Compressor and Document Compressor are separate choices: use the former for PDFs and the latter for its supported document inputs. Audio Compressor and GIF Compressor likewise target different media types. Each page has its own controls and workflow, so check the selected tool before preparing a batch.

When to create an archive instead

Choose Archive Creator when you need to bundle files or a folder and select among the archive formats exposed there. Choose Files to TAR.GZ when the required output is TAR or TAR.GZ from individual files. Packaging files into an archive is a different task from compressing the contents of a media or document file, and archiving does not guarantee a smaller result.

A simple way to choose and continue

  1. Identify the file type you want to compress, or the archive output you need.
  2. Open the matching tool from the listing above or from the cards.
  3. Use the inputs and options shown on that tool's page.
  4. Review the result using the controls provided there.

If the task changes from compressing one file type to packaging several files, return to the compression tools directory and choose the other workflow.
