Remove accents from text or a file
Enter text or load a file to convert accented characters to plain ASCII. The complete character-conversion mapping is not documented on the page.
Use the tool
- Type or paste text into the area marked "Paste or upload text with accents...".
- To use a file, select Upload or drop a supported text file anywhere on the page. The first selected or dropped file is read as text in your browser.
- Review the converted text in the output area marked "Accent-free output will appear here...".
- Use Copy to copy the result, or select Download to save it as a plain-text file.
Fix common ligatures
Leave Fix common ligatures checked to enable the optional handling. It is selected by default. The interface shows examples such as æ→ae, œ→oe, ß→ss, þ→th, and ł→l; these examples do not define the complete transformation table.
Files, privacy, and limitations
The shared file handler reads the selected or dropped file in the browser with FileReader.readAsText() and does not send it away from the browser. This is an implementation detail, not a general security guarantee.
The page documents no maximum input size, accepted-format policy, encoding selector, or user-facing error behavior for unreadable or unusually encoded files. Review the output after upload, and do not assume that every file or encoding will be handled successfully. Downloads use text/plain;charset=utf-8.
