How to use the CPC Calculator
Enter spend and clicks for the same period or campaign, then calculate the cost per click.
- Choose Currency and Period. These selections label the result.
- Enter Total ad spend and Total clicks for that same period or campaign.
- Optionally enter Target CPC - optional.
- Click Calculate CPC to show the result and assumptions.
- Click Reset to restore USD, Monthly, and blank input and result states.
How the CPC result is calculated
The calculator uses the values you enter:
CPC = Total ad spend / Total clicksImplied cost per 1,000 clicks = CPC × 1,000Gap vs. target (per click) = CPC − Target CPCGap vs. target (total spend) = Gap per click × Total clicks
The implied cost per 1,000 clicks uses clicks, not impressions, so it is not platform CPM. Spend and clicks must cover the same period or campaign.
Target CPC comparison
Enter Target CPC - optional to see the gap per click and Gap vs. target (total spend) at the current click volume. Leave it blank to show Not entered for the target and N/A for target-related gap rows. A warning appears only when the absolute gap exceeds 0.0005. This comparison does not change actual spend or provide a bid recommendation.
Inputs, labels, and validation
- Total ad spend must be a number of 0 or more.
- Total clicks must be greater than 0.
- Target CPC - optional, if entered, must be a number of 0 or more.
- Currency changes the displayed symbol or label only; it does not convert currencies or fetch exchange rates.
- Period options are Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Campaign total, and Custom period. They are labels only.
Invalid input stops the calculation and shows an error.
Reading, copying, and downloading the result
The result shows Cost per click (CPC), Implied cost per 1,000 clicks, and Total clicks (period). The assumptions table lists the selected labels, input values, calculated values, and target rows.
Use Copy result for a plain-text summary. If clipboard access fails, the interface shows a manual-copy fallback. Use Download result (.txt) to download a text file containing the result figures and the CPC formula.
What the calculator does not use or provide
The calculation uses only the values you enter. The calculator does not fetch live rates, ad account data, platform records, or exchange rates, and it does not connect to Google Ads, Meta Ads, or other platforms. It does not account for click quality, conversion rate, ad platform fees, or currency conversion. It is not advertising, bidding, or financial advice.
Privacy of calculator inputs
The calculator processes spend, clicks, target, currency, and period values locally in your browser. The calculator does not send those calculator inputs to a server.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is cost per click (CPC) calculated?
CPC is your total advertising spend divided by the total number of clicks for the same period: CPC = Total ad spend / Total clicks.
What's the difference between CPC and CPM?
CPC is cost per click. CPM is cost per 1,000 impressions. This tool shows an implied cost-per-1,000-clicks figure (spend divided by clicks, times 1,000) for scaling comparisons - it is not the same as an impression-based CPM from an ad platform.
Why does the tool ask for a target CPC?
The target CPC field is optional. If you enter one, the tool compares your actual CPC to the target and shows the gap per click and the equivalent total spend difference at your current click volume. It is a plain arithmetic comparison, not a bid recommendation.
Does this tool fetch my actual ad account data?
No. It only calculates from the calculator values you type in. It does not connect to Google Ads, Meta Ads, or any other platform, and does not fetch live rates or records. Those calculator inputs are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to a server.
Is this a substitute for advertising strategy or bid advice?
No. This tool performs transparent arithmetic on the figures you provide. It is not advertising, bidding, or financial advice, and it does not account for click quality, conversion rate, ad platform fees, or currency conversion.
