Video Merger

Join two or more local video clips into one, in exactly the order you choose - drag to reorder on the timeline, optionally add a fade-through-black boundary, set output format, resolution, frame rate and quality, and download the merged file. Nothing ever leaves your device.

What this video merger does

Use this tool to join two or more local video clips sequentially, in the order you choose. Processing happens in your browser, and the original source files are not changed. The first merge may load the video engine with a one-time download of about 30 MB.

Add and arrange video clips

Drop files into Drop video clips here or click browse files. You need at least two entries with a readable video track before Merge Video is enabled. Unsupported, corrupt, empty, or unreadable files may be ignored or marked as errors.

Arrange the accepted rows by dragging them, using Move up or Move down, and use Remove to delete an entry. Check the Timeline preview; its blocks show the merge order and are sized by clip duration.

Choose output and transition settings

  • Output format - choose MP4 (H.264 / AAC) or WebM (VP9 / Opus). The selected format determines the output codec family.
  • Resolution - keep the first clip's resolution, or choose 480p, 720p, 1080p, or 1440p.
  • Frame rate - keep the first clip's frame rate, or choose 24, 25, 30, or 60 fps.
  • Video quality - choose Low, Medium, High, or Very high.
  • Audio bitrate (when re-encoding) - choose 96, 128, 192, or 256 kbps.

For transitions, choose Back-to-back - no fade or Fade through black (video) + audio fade. The fade is off by default. Its input accepts a minimum of 0.1 seconds and defaults to 0.5; the actual duration is limited by the clip duration. A fade forces re-encoding.

Understand compatibility and re-encoding

Choose Auto - stream-copy when every clip already matches, re-encode otherwise or Always re-encode using the settings above. Stream-copy is available only when the checked video and audio properties match: video codec, dimensions, frame rate, and available audio properties. The existing video codec must also fit the selected Output format.

Keep first clip's resolution and Keep first clip's frame rate can allow stream-copy when the other checks pass. Choosing a specific Resolution or Frame rate forces re-encoding. A fade and Always re-encode using the settings above also force re-encoding.

Video quality and Audio bitrate (when re-encoding) affect re-encoded output only. Stream-copy preserves the existing streams, so those settings are not applied on that path. The report shows the decision and detected reasons; it does not inspect pixel format.

When at least one clip has audio, the tool inserts silence for clips without an audio track. If none of the clips has audio, the merged output has no audio track.

How to merge video clips

  1. Add two or more video clips with browse files or the drop area.
  2. Set the order by dragging clips or using Move up and Move down, then review the Timeline preview.
  3. Choose Output format, Resolution, Frame rate, Video quality, and Audio bitrate (when re-encoding).
  4. Choose Back-to-back - no fade or Fade through black (video) + audio fade.
  5. Choose a compatibility mode, review the report, and click Merge Video.
  6. Preview the result and click Download merged video.

Processing limits and troubleshooting

This tool joins clips one after another. It does not overlay tracks, stabilize footage, or apply automatic scene editing. Invalid or undecodable files can prevent merging. If stream-copy conditions fail, try Always re-encode using the settings above. Choosing a different Output format causes re-encoding when its codec family does not match the source, so it is a format-specific troubleshooting step, not a universal fix.

The implementation does not document a maximum file count or maximum input file size.

Privacy and local processing

The entire merge runs in your browser using a local video engine. Your files never leave your device, and the original clips are only read, not modified.

Frequently asked questions

Does this overlay clips or just join them one after another?

It only joins clips sequentially, end to end, in the order you set. It never overlays or mixes clips as simultaneous tracks - if you need picture-in-picture or layered video, use a video editor with multi-track compositing instead.

Will merging re-encode my video, or can it stay lossless?

It depends on the selected compatibility mode and the clips. Auto - stream-copy when every clip already matches, re-encode otherwise uses stream-copy only when the checked video and audio properties match and the selected Output format fits the source codec family. A fade or any mismatch requires re-encoding. Always re-encode using the settings above forces re-encoding.

Does it stabilize shaky footage automatically?

No. This tool never applies stabilization or any other automatic video correction. It only joins your clips in order and, optionally, applies a fade you explicitly enable.

What happens to clips that don't have an audio track?

When at least one clip has audio, the tool inserts silence for clips without an audio track so the merged audio stays in sync. If no clip has audio, the output has no audio track.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The entire merge happens in your browser using a local video engine. Your files never leave your device.
