How to remove email addresses from text
Enter text in the input area, or upload or drop a .txt file. The tool removes or replaces matched email-address-style tokens and places the result in the read-only output box.
Choose how matches are handled
- Choose Remove emails to delete each match.
- Choose Replace with placeholder to substitute the value in Placeholder. It starts as
[email removed]. - Clean up leftover whitespace is enabled by default. It collapses runs of spaces or tabs to one space and removes trailing spaces on each line without changing line breaks.
- Case-insensitive matching changes the regular-expression flag. It has no practical difference for the ASCII matcher used here.
Preview, copy, or download the result
The result and match count update automatically when you change the input or options. Select Show before-and-after preview to display Before and After sections, with matched tokens highlighted in Before.
The output box is read-only. Use Copy to copy the result, or Download to create cleaned-text.txt.
How to use the tool
- Enter text, upload a
.txtfile, or drop a file into the input area. - Choose Remove emails or Replace with placeholder. Adjust the placeholder or other options if needed.
- Review the output and, if useful, enable Show before-and-after preview.
- Use Copy or Download.
Matching limits and text changes
The matcher recognizes common dotted local@domain-style tokens, such as [email protected]. It requires a dotted domain, so unusual or unsupported email-address forms may remain. Punctuation around a matched token stays in place.
With Clean up leftover whitespace enabled, spaces and tabs may change on any line, not only near a removed address. The tool does not check whether an address is real or deliverable, and it returns transformed text rather than a separate email list.
Browser-side processing
The text transformation and file reading are implemented in browser-side JavaScript. This describes where the page code performs these operations; it is not a general security guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool give me a list of the emails it found?
No. This tool returns the text with matched email-address-style tokens removed or replaced; it does not create a separate email list.
Does it check whether the emails are real or deliverable?
No. It matches email-address-style tokens for removal or replacement, but it does not check whether an address is real or deliverable.
Will it catch an email right next to punctuation, like ([email protected]) or [email protected],?
Yes. The matcher can find an email-address-style token next to punctuation such as commas, periods, parentheses, or quotes. The surrounding punctuation remains in place.
