Icon Resizer

Create resized icon-image copies from a raster or SVG source - app, social, and UI presets plus custom sizes, with fit, padding, and transparency controls. Nothing is uploaded, nothing leaves your device.

Drop an image or SVG here

or

SVG . PNG . JPG . WEBP . GIF . BMP . AVIF

How the icon resizer works

Load one SVG, PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, or AVIF file. Select the app, social, UI, and custom sizes you need, and the tool automatically produces PNG or WebP copies. Four presets are selected initially: App Icon 512, App Icon 192, UI Icon 32, and UI Icon 64.

Load and verify the source

Use Drop an image or SVG here or click browse files to load a source. After loading, check the source summary: File, Type, Source size, and Selected sizes. SVG sources are rasterized for each generated size; raster sources are resampled from their original pixels.

Choose icon sizes

Choose from App icon sizes, Social icon sizes, and UI icon sizes. Preset buttons toggle selection. Under Custom sizes, enter an optional name, width, and height, then click Add size. Each added custom size stays selected until you click its custom-size button to remove it.

Four presets are selected by default. Width and height accept values from 1 through 8192 pixels; values outside that range are rejected before a custom size is added. Changes to the selected sizes and output settings automatically refresh the previews.

Set fit, padding, background, and format

  • Contain fits the whole source inside the target and leaves background or transparent space where needed.
  • Cover fills the target and crops the overhanging edges.
  • Stretch scales width and height independently, which can distort the source.
  • Crop takes a centered region without scaling; if the source is smaller, the remaining area is padded.

Set Padding from 0% to 40%; it affects all four fit modes, including Crop. Choose a Background color or enable Transparent, then select PNG or WebP under Output format. These formats can preserve alpha information from browser-rendered sources and transparent padded areas.

Review and download the icons

  1. Drop a supported file into the tool or click browse files.
  2. Select the preset sizes you need and add any custom sizes.
  3. Choose a fit mode, set Padding, and choose a background or Transparent.
  4. Select PNG or WebP. The previews update automatically after each usable change.
  5. Review the previews and click Download for an individual file, or click Download all as ZIP for icon-resizer-icons.zip.

Generated names use the selected label and dimensions, such as icon-app-icon-512-512x512.png. Unnamed custom sizes use icon-custom-WxH.png. If filename bases collide, later files receive numeric suffixes.

Supported processing and limitations

Raster files are loaded from the selected file and resampled in the browser. SVG input is rasterized locally at a working resolution based on the largest selected dimension, capped at 4096, then reused for the selected outputs. The conversion workflow loads, renders, and packages the selected file through browser APIs; the selected file is not uploaded by that workflow.

Processing and ZIP creation use browser memory. Many outputs or large dimensions may take longer or run out of available memory. Unreadable or failed files show an error near the workspace and leave the source picker available so you can retry with another file.

This tool creates resized icon images only. It does not create favicon.ico or a web manifest with matching HTML link tags. Use the Favicon Generator for that separate workflow.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between contain, cover, stretch, and crop?

Contain scales your image to fit entirely inside each target size and pads leftover space with a background color or transparency. Cover fills the target and crops the overhang. Stretch scales width and height independently and can distort the image. Crop takes a centered, pixel-exact region without scaling and pads around it if the source is smaller.

Does this tool create favicon.ico or a web manifest?

No. It produces resized PNG or WebP icon images only. For a favicon.ico file, a web app manifest, and matching HTML link tags, use the Favicon Generator.

Is transparency preserved from an SVG or PNG source?

Choose PNG or WebP and enable Transparent. Alpha information from a browser-rendered source can then be preserved in the generated sizes, including transparent padded areas.
