Convert text or Morse code
Enter text or Morse code in the left textarea. The tool converts text to Morse or decodes Morse to text. Auto-detect is selected initially; use Text → Morse or Morse → Text to choose the direction yourself.
Enter text or upload a file
Type or paste your input, or use Drop file and Upload. Text files with .txt, .csv, .log, or .md extensions are accepted. A selected or dropped file is read as text in the browser and placed in the input textarea.
Choose the conversion mode
Auto-detect decodes when more than 65% of non-space characters are dots, dashes, or slashes. Otherwise, it encodes the input as text to Morse. Select Text → Morse or Morse → Text to override automatic detection.
Review, copy, or download the result
Review the converted result in the read-only output textarea. Then choose Copy, Download .txt, or Download .WAV. The text control copies or saves the result; the WAV control exports Morse audio.
Play the signal lamp
The Signal Lamp panel shows the Morse result as flashes. After a result is available, select Play to start. The initial status is Press Play to start — lamp will flash the Morse code.
Format Morse input
Use the separators shown in the interface:
- Use
.for dots and-for dashes. - Separate letter groups with spaces, such as
.- .-.. - Separate words with
/, such as... --- ... / ... --- ....
Supported characters and confirmed limitations
Text encoding supports A–Z, 0–9, and common punctuation: period, comma, question mark, apostrophe, exclamation mark, slash, parentheses, colon, semicolon, equals, plus, hyphen, underscore, quotation marks, dollar sign, and at-sign.
The readable local code does not document exact handling for empty input, invalid Morse, unsupported characters, or separator edge cases. If the result is unexpected, review the output and choose the appropriate manual mode.
Browser-side processing and WAV details
Translation, Signal Lamp animation, and WAV generation occur in the browser. The input text is not uploaded for that processing. Download .WAV produces standard 16-bit PCM mono audio at 44,100 Hz, using a 620 Hz tone, 80 ms dots, and 240 ms dashes.
Frequently asked questions
How does auto-detection work?
Auto-detect decodes when more than 65% of non-space characters are Morse symbols: dots, dashes, or slashes. Otherwise, it encodes text to Morse. The manual mode buttons override this choice.
What format does the WAV file use?
Download .WAV creates standard 16-bit PCM mono audio at 44,100 Hz. It uses a 620 Hz tone, with 80 ms dots and 240 ms dashes.
What characters are supported?
The tool supports A–Z, 0–9, and the listed common punctuation: period, comma, question mark, apostrophe, exclamation mark, slash, parentheses, colon, semicolon, equals, plus, hyphen, underscore, quotation marks, dollar sign, and at-sign.
Is my text sent to a server?
Translation, lamp animation, and WAV generation happen in the browser, and the input is not uploaded for that processing. This scoped statement does not mean the page makes no other network requests.
Can I use this to make movie sound effects?
The tool provides Download .WAV for the generated Morse result. Check the downloaded file in the software where you plan to use it.
