How to use the image compressor
Use this tool to add image files, choose an output format and compression setting, then review the result before downloading it.
- Drop image files onto the drop zone, or click browse files. The accepted input formats are JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF.
- Choose an Output format: Keep original, JPEG, WebP, or PNG.
- Select High, Balanced, Small, or Custom. You can also enable Target file size.
- Review the file list and the Before and After preview when it is shown.
- Download the processed files with Download all as ZIP.
Choose the output format
Keep original retains the input file type. The other visible choices are JPEG, WebP, and PNG. These output choices are separate from the input formats listed in the drop zone.
PNG has no visible quality control in this interface. If you convert to JPEG or WebP, the visual result can change with the selected settings.
Set compression quality or target size
Choose High, Balanced, or Small for a preset. Select Custom when you want to adjust the quality control yourself.
To work toward a file-size value, enable Target file size, enter a number, and choose KB or MB. The result may vary by image and format, so treat the target as a requested size rather than a quality guarantee.
Review results and download files
The file list shows File, Original, Compressed, and Savings. Use the Before and After preview to compare the source and processed image when the preview is available.
When you have finished reviewing the results, select Download all as ZIP to retrieve the processed batch.
Limitations and troubleshooting
- A processed file can be larger than the original, especially when the source is already compressed or when the selected format is not a good match.
- Results vary with the source image, output format, quality setting, and target size.
- PNG has no visible quality control, so changing its output format may be necessary when you need a smaller result.
- The page does not state a maximum file count, maximum file size, browser compatibility list, or memory limit. Adding multiple images is supported, but practical capacity can depend on the browser and device.
Privacy and local processing
The page states that images are processed locally in your browser. Images are not uploaded and do not leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
Will compressing reduce image quality?
JPEG and WebP can change visual quality depending on the selected settings. Results differ by source image. PNG has no visible quality control in the interface.
How does Target file size work?
Enable Target file size, enter a value, and choose KB or MB. The tool attempts to produce an output near the requested size, but the result depends on the image and selected format.
Why is my compressed file larger than the original?
Compression does not always reduce a file. Try another output format or quality setting, then compare the processed file with the original before downloading it.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The page states that processing is local in the browser and that images do not leave your device.
How many images can I compress?
The page supports adding multiple images, but it does not document a maximum image count. The browser and device may affect how many files can be handled at once.
