Split or Join Paragraphs

Split long text into paragraphs by sentence or join paragraphs into one block.

Text transformation mode

How to use the text transformer

Paste text into the input area, or drag a file onto the input area. You can also select Upload to choose a file. The output updates when you change the input, mode, or separator.

  1. Enter text in the input area.
  2. Select one of the four processing modes.
  3. If you select Join paragraphs into one block, set Join separator if needed.
  4. Review the output area, then use Copy or Download.

Choose a text-processing mode

Choose the mode that matches the line-break change you need. Line endings are normalized before processing.

  • Split text into paragraphs (each sentence new line) normalizes whitespace and puts each detected sentence ending in ., !, or ? on a separate line. It creates one sentence per line, not blank-line-separated paragraph blocks.
  • Join paragraphs into one block trims each line, removes empty lines, and joins every remaining line with Join separator.
  • Smart Unwrap joins single line breaks while preserving groups separated by two or more consecutive line breaks.
  • Full Unwrap removes all line breaks, trims lines, removes empty lines, and joins the remaining content with spaces.

Set Join separator

Join separator contains a single space by default. In Join paragraphs into one block, its value is placed between every non-empty trimmed input line. Changing it reprocesses the output immediately.

Fix copied PDF line breaks

Paste the copied text into the input area, then choose Join paragraphs into one block. This removes empty lines and joins every remaining trimmed line using Join separator. Use Smart Unwrap to preserve groups separated by two or more line breaks, or Full Unwrap to remove every line break.

Limitations to check before processing

  • Sentence splitting only detects boundaries ending in ., !, or ?. It may not identify every sentence boundary or language-specific punctuation pattern.
  • Join paragraphs into one block removes empty lines, so intentional paragraph breaks are not preserved in that mode. Use Smart Unwrap when those breaks should remain.
  • Files selected through Upload or dragged onto the input area are read as text in the browser. The page does not declare supported file types, a file-size or character limit, browser requirements, or specific error behavior for unreadable files.
  • The local implementation processes the text in client-side JavaScript. It does not establish broader privacy or security guarantees.
