Convert images in the browser

Use this tool to convert supported image files to JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF. Conversion runs locally in your browser; image files are not uploaded by the converter.

Convert images step by step

  1. Drop one or more images onto the drop zone, or select browse files.
  2. Wait for the workspace and conversion controls to appear, then choose an output format.
  3. Adjust quality or the background for transparent areas as needed.
  4. Conversion starts automatically. Each file row shows its status and new size as conversion finishes.
  5. Use the download action in a completed file row, or select Download all as ZIP for the batch.

Choose an output format

  • JPG uses lossy quality control and cannot retain transparency.
  • PNG can retain transparency and provides a lossless output.
  • WebP can retain transparency and supports adjustable quality.
  • AVIF is available only when encoding support exists in the current browser or environment.

After files are loaded, check the format note below the output controls. The tool can show an automatic format recommendation.

Adjust quality and transparent areas

The Quality control ranges from 1 to 100 for lossy outputs. JPG remains lossy, including at 100.

Under Background color for transparent areas, choose White, Black, Gray, Red, Blue, or Custom. JPG fills transparent pixels with the selected background; PNG, WebP, and AVIF can retain transparency.

Check the Before and After previews

After conversion, compare the Before and After previews, then check each file's new size before downloading.

Supported formats and limits

The interface accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG, and HEIC. It writes JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF; GIF, SVG, and HEIC are read-only source formats. HEIC decoding depends on browser support, and AVIF encoding may be unavailable in the current browser or environment.

No maximum file count or file size is documented in the interface. Very large files or batches can be affected by browser, memory, or decoding behavior.

Privacy and browser processing

Image conversion runs in your browser and does not upload image files. This applies to image processing; other page resources or analytics requests are separate.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can this converter read and write?

The interface lists JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG, and HEIC as input types. HEIC decoding depends on browser support. It can write JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF; GIF, SVG, and HEIC are read-only source formats here.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG has no transparency channel, so any transparent pixels are filled with the background color you choose before encoding. Converting to PNG, WebP, or AVIF instead keeps the original transparency intact.

Why is the AVIF button disabled?

AVIF encoding support may be unavailable in the current browser or environment. The tool can disable the AVIF option when it cannot produce AVIF files.

Why won't my HEIC photo load?

HEIC decoding depends on browser support. If the file does not load, use a browser or application that can decode HEIC, or export it as JPG or PNG first.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

The converter processes image conversion in your browser and does not upload image files. This does not mean that no other page resources or analytics requests are made.

Is there a limit to how many images I can convert?

No explicit file-count or file-size limit is documented in the interface. Very large files or batches can be affected by browser, memory, or decoding behavior.
