Use the JSON Validator & Formatter
Use the separate input and output editors to check JSON syntax, format the result, copy or download it, and inspect its structure. Paste JSON into the input editor or choose Upload, then work from the Validate & Format tab.
Validate and format JSON
- Open the Validate & Format tab.
- Paste JSON into the input editor, use Upload, or drop a supported text file anywhere on the page.
- Review the status area and the output editor as the content is processed automatically.
- If the content cannot be parsed, correct its syntax in the input editor and review the updated result.
This page checks JSON syntax and formats parseable content. It does not check whether a document matches a separate data schema.
Adjust output options
- Indent: Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces, or Tab.
- JSON output always uses standard double-quoted strings. JSON does not support single-quoted strings.
- Sort keys: Select this checkbox to process object keys in sorted order.
- Minify: Select this checkbox when you want compact output instead of expanded whitespace and indentation.
Inspect JSON in Tree View
Select the Tree View tab to review the parsed content in the page's separate tree area. Use it when a nested structure is easier to inspect as a tree than as formatted text.
Upload, copy, and download results
- Use Upload in the input panel, or place a file in Drop file.
- Use Copy in the output panel to copy the processed text.
- Use Download in the output panel to save the processed text as a file.
Limits and validation scope
JSON syntax validation is different from JSON Schema validation. This page has no schema input or schema-validation control; use the JSON Schema Validator when you need to compare a document with a schema.
The local implementation does not document a fixed input or upload file-size limit. It also does not establish that every error includes an exact line and character position.
Privacy and processing note
The tool includes client-side JavaScript processing paths for the entered content. However, this page also loads remote editor resources and analytics resources, so the implementation does not establish an absolute page-wide guarantee that data never reaches a remote resource. Avoid entering sensitive tokens unless your own requirements allow it.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I fix JSON syntax errors?
Enter the JSON in the input editor and review the status and output. If parsing fails, correct the syntax in the input, then select Fix JSON again. The page does not establish that every error includes an exact line and character position.
Is this JSON beautifier secure for API data?
The tool has client-side processing paths, but the page also loads remote editor and analytics resources. The local implementation therefore does not support an absolute claim that API data or tokens never reach any remote resource.
