Choose a PDF splitting method
This category currently offers one utility, Split PDF. Use it when you need to turn one PDF into multiple PDF files. You can split selected page ranges, divide the document into sequential groups of every N pages, use top-level bookmarks as split points, or create one file per page.
How to split a PDF
Open the Split PDF tool and provide a PDF. Choose the method that matches the output you need, then configure page ranges or the pages-per-file value where that method requires it. For bookmark splitting, the tool uses readable top-level bookmark destinations. Review the resulting page groups and output filenames, build the split files, and download them; multiple generated PDFs can be packaged as a ZIP.
PDF cases to check before splitting
Some document conditions affect which method is available or what you should review afterward:
- Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are detected and splitting is disabled; the tool does not attempt to decrypt them.
- Digitally signed PDFs trigger a warning because splitting creates newly saved PDF files, so the detected signatures will not verify in those outputs.
- Bookmark splitting uses top-level bookmarks. Nested sub-bookmarks are not separate split points, and PDFs without readable top-level bookmarks cannot use that method.
- One-file-per-page creates an output for every page, which can result in many files for a long document.
Review the page groups and filenames in Split PDF before building the outputs, especially when using page ranges that leave some pages out or overlap.
