Phone Number List Cleaner

Paste or upload a list of phone numbers and normalize whitespace, punctuation, trunk prefixes, and extensions under a rule set you control - output E.164, national, or display format, with ambiguous records flagged separately for review.

How to Clean a Phone Number List

Paste or upload a list and choose the cleaning rules. Processing starts automatically when the input is usable and normalizes entries as phone-number identifiers, removes duplicates after normalization, and keeps records it cannot interpret in Flagged - needs review with the original text and a reason.

Add a List and Check Input Splitting

Use Paste numbers below, or drop a TXT, CSV, or TSV file into the upload area. The parser splits raw text at every newline, comma, semicolon, or tab. It is not quote-aware CSV/TSV parsing, so a quoted comma is still treated as a separator.

Choose the Cleaning Rules

Set Default country for entries without an international prefix. The available choices come from the countries defined in the tool's local country table. A leading + is matched to its calling code. The tool strips a configured trunk prefix from national input.

Enable Require explicit + prefix (flag everything else) when entries must begin with +. Only a leading + is recognized as an international prefix; 00 is not converted to +.

Handle Extensions and Select an Output Format

Extensions offers Strip extension and Keep as ;ext=N. The tool recognizes trailing ext, ext., extension, x, or # followed by digits.

Use Output format to choose E.164, National, or Display. E.164 begins with + and the country code. National output uses the configured trunk prefix where one exists. Display output begins with + and the country code, followed by grouped digits.

Clean, Review, and Export the Results

  1. Enter or upload the list and set Default country, Require explicit + prefix (flag everything else), Output format, and Extensions.
  2. Processing starts automatically when the input is usable or a rule changes.
  3. Review the total, retained, duplicate, and flagged counts.
  4. Inspect Retained list, Duplicates removed, and Flagged - needs review.
  5. Use Copy, Export TXT, or Export CSV for retained results. Use the available Export CSV controls for duplicates and flagged records.

Understand Flagged Records and Duplicates

Flagged reasons include No digits found., no country signal, an unrecognized or unassigned international calling code, unusual national-number length, unrecognized letters, and a missing explicit + when required. The original entry and reason stay visible for review.

Duplicates are matched by the normalized country, national number, and extension key. They appear in Duplicates removed instead of being retained as unique entries.

What the Tool Does Not Validate

The length rules are plausible ranges used for flagging, not a carrier or live-number check. The tool does not validate carrier assignment, confirm that a number is live or reachable, or convert phone numbers into monetary or other numeric values.

Browser Processing

The local implementation performs splitting, normalization, country matching, and formatting in the browser. The local files do not define account or usage-limit policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a Phone Number Validator?

A phone number validator checks whether a single number is valid, carrier-assigned, or reachable. This tool is a list-cleaning workflow: it normalizes formatting across a whole list, applies country and extension rules, and sets aside ambiguous entries for review - it does not check carrier assignment or confirm a number is live.

How is this different from a Number & Currency Normalizer?

This tool treats phone numbers as identifiers, never as numeric values - it doesn't sum, parse as currency, or convert magnitudes. It's built specifically around phone-number structure: country codes, trunk prefixes, and extensions.

What happens if a number has no country prefix?

If you've selected a default country, the number is assumed to belong to it and its trunk prefix is stripped. If you've required explicit + prefixes, or selected no default country, that entry is flagged for review instead of being guessed.

What counts as an ambiguous or flagged record?

Entries with no digits, no country signal, an unrecognized or unassigned calling code, an unusual national-number length, unrecognized letters, or a missing explicit + when required are flagged with a reason instead of being forced into the output.
