CSV to Excel conversion at a glance
Use this tool to turn CSV, TSV, or TXT files into Excel .xlsx workbooks. Load your files, check the preview, choose the output options, and then convert them in the browser.
Convert files step by step
- Drop files onto the tool or click browse files. You can select CSV, TSV, or TXT files.
- Check Delimiter and Encoding. Leave either setting on Auto-detect, choose a listed option, or choose Custom... under Delimiter and enter one character in Custom delimiter.
- Use First row is header when the first row contains the column names.
- Review the data preview and the per-column type controls shown with it before converting.
- Choose the sheet and output settings that match your files.
- Conversion starts automatically after a usable file is loaded and whenever a setting changes; use the download control for the resulting workbooks. When more than one workbook is available, use Download all as ZIP.
Choose sheets and output files
For each file, Sheet output offers One sheet per file or Split into sheets by column. If you choose the split option, select a value in Split by column; each distinct value becomes a sheet.
For multiple files, Output mode offers Separate .xlsx per file or Combine all files into one workbook. After conversion, the interface can provide Download all as ZIP.
Check detection, preview, and warnings
Review the detected delimiter and encoding notes beside the Delimiter and Encoding controls, then check the data preview before you convert. The page also provides a validation-warning area. Its metadata identifies warnings for rows with uneven shapes and for type mismatches.
Local browser processing
The page states that your files are never uploaded. Parsing and the generated .xlsx file are created locally in your browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does converting CSV to Excel upload my file anywhere?
No. The page states that parsing and workbook creation happen in your browser, and that your file is never uploaded.
How does the tool detect the delimiter and encoding automatically?
The tool can detect common delimiters including comma, semicolon, tab, and pipe, and common encodings including UTF-8, UTF-16, and Windows-1252. You can override either setting with the Delimiter or Encoding control.
Can I split one CSV file into multiple sheets?
Yes. Choose Split into sheets by column, then select a column. Each distinct value in that column becomes a sheet in the workbook.
