Postal Code Validator

Check a single postal/ZIP code, or paste a whole list, against the length, pattern, spacing, and casing rules of an explicitly selected country or region. Permitted spacing and casing are normalized before checking, and regions not covered here are reported as unsupported rather than guessed.

Validation notice: This tool checks format only - length, pattern, permitted spacing, and casing for the country/region you pick. It does not verify that a postal code exists, does not resolve or complete an address, and does not extract postal codes from free text. It never infers a country from the code itself.

This tool only checks format against the region you select. It does not verify existence, does not resolve an address, and does not extract codes from text.

Postal Code Validator: Check Format Against a Region You Choose

Use the Postal Code Validator to check a postal/ZIP code's format against a Country or region you select. It checks one value or a list, normalizes permitted spacing and casing, and reports regions without a supported rule set as unsupported. It does not guess a country from the code.

How Validation Works

1. Select the region

Choose a value from Country or region before validating. The selected region controls the length and pattern rules; the tool does not infer a country from the code.

2. Normalize and check the value

The tool trims input, uppercases letters where required, and accepts permitted spacing or separators before checking the region's format. Rules can require a digit count, a letter-and-digit pattern, or a grouped format such as 00-950.

3. Read the result

Single-code results show the region, expected format, example, normalized value, and any errors. A value that does not match the selected rule is marked Invalid format.

Single Code and Bulk Codes

In Single Code, enter one value in Postal/ZIP code. The result includes the normalized value and the selected region's expected format, example, and errors.

In Bulk Codes, enter values in Postal/ZIP codes, one per line or separated by commas. The results table shows each value's status, region, duplicate information, and errors.

Duplicates Are Shown, Not Removed

In bulk mode, a code that normalizes to the same value as an earlier entry is flagged as a duplicate of that earlier row. Nothing is removed from the list - every entry you supplied gets its own result row.

How to Validate Postal Codes

  1. Pick a mode: Single Code for one candidate, or Bulk Codes for a list.
  2. Select the region: Choose a value in Country or region. This is required.
  3. Enter your data: Type one value in Postal/ZIP code, or paste values into Postal/ZIP codes in bulk mode.
  4. Review the result: Results update automatically as you choose a region and enter a value or list.
  5. Export bulk results: After results appear, use Copy CSV or Download CSV.

Unsupported Regions and Empty Input

Selecting Other / not listed produces an Unsupported result, and no pattern is applied. Leaving Country or region unselected produces Unsupported / not selected. Empty input waits for a usable value; bulk CSV actions remain disabled until automatic validation creates results.

What This Tool Does Not Do

This tool does not verify that a postal code exists or is assigned to a real place, resolve or complete an address, or extract codes from arbitrary text. A Valid format result only means that the value matches the selected region's structural rules. Validation runs in the browser and does not send codes to a postal or mapping service.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does this tool tell me if a postal code actually exists?

No. It checks format only for the region you select. It does not look up whether the code is assigned to a real place and does not send codes to a postal or mapping service.

Can this tool guess which country a postal code belongs to?

No. Many countries share overlapping digit-count formats, so guessing would be unreliable. You select the country explicitly, and the tool checks against that country's rules only.

What happens if I pick a country that isn't covered?

Select "Other / not listed" and the tool reports the region as unsupported instead of applying an approximate pattern.

Does this tool find ZIP codes inside a block of text?

No. This tool validates codes you supply directly for a region you choose; it does not search arbitrary text for ZIP-code-shaped substrings.
