What This Tool Does
The EPUB to MOBI Converter accepts an .epub file and creates a .mobi file with a from-scratch MOBI7/Mobipocket-style encoder. It extracts book metadata, cover information, chapters and table-of-contents data from the EPUB. The result may include a warnings panel when the source uses features that need to be simplified or removed.
How to Convert EPUB to MOBI
- Upload: Drop your .epub file onto the drop zone, or click browse files.
- Convert: Click Convert to MOBI. The tool reads the archive, checks its structure and DRM status, extracts the book content, then encodes the MOBI file.
- Review: Check the detected title, author, chapter count and cover status. A MOBI file can be produced alongside a warnings panel.
- Download: Click Download .mobi to save the finished file.
Metadata, Cover and Table of Contents
The converter reads the title, authors, publisher, description, subjects and publication date from the EPUB metadata. It looks for a cover through cover metadata, a cover-image manifest item, or the first referenced image in reading order. It builds the table of contents from EPUB3 navigation or EPUB2 NCX data. If neither is available, it uses spine order and chapter headings. Available cover and referenced image bytes are embedded when the corresponding archive entries are found.
MOBI7 Limitations and Conversion Warnings
MOBI7 is simpler than modern EPUB. The converter removes scripts, inline event-handler attributes, audio, video, iframe, object, form, input, button and SVG elements before encoding. It scans inline and linked CSS for selected patterns, including fixed or absolute positioning, flexbox, grid, @font-face, animations, transitions, transforms and multi-column layouts.
Those CSS patterns are reported for review; the scan does not remove individual CSS declarations. Style elements are removed during sanitization, and linked stylesheets are not inserted into the output. Missing referenced images may be skipped. Warnings cover the detected categories, but they do not disclose every possible layout or rendering difference.
DRM-Protected EPUBs Are Refused
If an EPUB contains META-INF/encryption.xml or META-INF/rights.xml, it is DRM-protected, and this tool refuses to convert it. It does not attempt to strip, crack, or work around DRM in any way, under any circumstances - this is a hard rule, not a configurable option. If you own a DRM-protected book, obtain a DRM-free copy through your retailer or library before converting it here.
Local Processing and Practical Limits
The output is a pure MOBI7/Mobipocket-style file with no KF8 or hybrid layer. It is not pixel-for-pixel with the EPUB, and complex layouts may look simpler. The EPUB is read, parsed, sanitized and encoded in your browser; the page states that it is not uploaded to a server.
No numeric file-size limit is defined in the local implementation. The practical constraint is available browser and device memory, especially for large or image-heavy EPUBs. There is no local device compatibility matrix or complete guarantee for how every target reader will display every image format.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does converting EPUB to MOBI upload my book anywhere?
No. The EPUB is unpacked, parsed, sanitized and re-encoded into a MOBI file in your browser. The page states that the EPUB is not uploaded to a server.
Can this tool convert DRM-protected EPUBs?
No. If META-INF/encryption.xml or META-INF/rights.xml is present, the tool refuses conversion. It does not decrypt, strip or bypass DRM.
Will the MOBI look exactly like the EPUB?
No. The MOBI7 output is not pixel-for-pixel. Selected unsupported elements are removed and selected CSS patterns are reported, but warnings do not cover every possible rendering difference.
