How the HTML to PDF converter works
The tool renders supplied HTML in the browser, then converts the rendered result with html2canvas and jsPDF. The PDF uses the selected page dimensions and margins, so its layout can differ from the browser's native print output.
Enter HTML or fetch a page
- Paste a full document or snippet into HTML Code.
- For a page address, switch to URL and enter the URL. Fetching starts automatically; cross-origin restrictions can prevent the request.
- If fetching fails, provide static HTML in HTML Code. The implementation does not confirm that login sessions or dynamically generated content can be recovered.
Choose PDF settings
- Use Paper size to choose Letter, A4, or Legal.
- Use Orientation to choose Portrait or Landscape.
- Use Margins to choose Normal, Narrow, Wide, or None.
- Enter optional text in Header text (optional) and Footer text (optional, use {page} and {pages}). The footer supports
{page}and{pages}placeholders. - Use Print CSS (optional, applied on top of the page's own styles) to add CSS to the render.
Preview and download the PDF
- After HTML is supplied or a URL is fetched, the page-break preview and PDF are prepared automatically.
- Use the preview as a visual approximation of pagination; it is not documented as an exact copy of the final PDF.
- Click Download PDF when the current conversion is ready.
Known rendering limitations
The conversion path uses html2canvas and jsPDF, not a native browser print engine. Complex layouts, external images, fonts, stylesheets, other CSS, or script-generated content may render differently. The local implementation does not establish the exact behavior for malformed HTML, failed external resources, very large documents, or every conversion failure.
URL access and privacy considerations
Pasted HTML is rendered and converted in the browser. URL conversion also starts in the browser, but it requests the entered target and may load resources referenced by that page. Use HTML Code with static markup when cross-origin access prevents fetching; do not assume that authenticated or dynamic content will be preserved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the PDF match the page pixel-for-pixel?
Not necessarily. The tool renders the content with html2canvas and jsPDF on a fixed page size rather than using the browser's native print engine, so layout, CSS, images, fonts, stylesheets, and other external resources may differ.
Can it convert pages that require login?
The URL workflow requires a page that the browser can fetch with the required cross-origin access. The local implementation does not confirm that login sessions or authenticated content will be preserved. If fetching fails, provide static HTML in the HTML Code tab.
Does it run JavaScript on the page?
The implementation renders supplied HTML in an iframe-like render root before html2canvas captures it. It does not document a guaranteed JavaScript execution or capture policy, so do not rely on page scripts or script-generated content being preserved.
Is there a size limit?
No documented maximum is exposed by the page or script, so the practical maximum is not established here.
